DHS Launches Protected Critical Infrastructure Information Program to Enhance Homeland Security, Facilitate Information Sharing
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced today the launch of the Protected Critical Infrastructure Information (PCII) Program. The PCII Program enables the private sector to voluntarily submit infrastructure information to the Federal government to assist the Nation in reducing its vulnerability to terrorist attacks.
Critical infrastructure includes the assets and systems that, if disrupted, would threaten our national security, public health and safety, economy, and way of life. Although these industries, services and systems may be found in both the public and private sectors, the Department of Homeland Security estimates that more than 85 percent falls within the private sector.  >> more

Government Of Malaysia To Implement Container Security Initiative Begins Targeting And Pre-Screening Cargo Destined For U.S.
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Robert C. Bonner and Datuk Abdul Halil Bin Abdul Mutalib, Director-General of Customs of the Government of Malaysia, today announced the implementation of the U.S. - Malaysia Container Security Initiative at the port of Klang, Malaysia.

Radiation devices deployed to ports
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) yesterday introduced highly sophisticated radiation portal monitors designed to better prevent terrorists or others from attempting to smuggle "dirty bombs" into the United States through U.S. seaports.

CBP Commissioner Robert C. Bonner said the monitors, which detect the radiological materials used in nuclear and radiological dispersal devices, known as dirty bombs, are being deployed rapidly to all of the country's major seaports of entry.  >> more

European Community and Department of Homeland Security Sign Landmark Agreement to Improve Container Security and Expand CSI
The European Community and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today signed an agreement that among other things, calls for the prompt expansion of Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Container Security Initiative throughout the European Community.
The agreement was signed by Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge and Irish Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C.
